Pay & Benefits

The beginning salary for an officer is $1874.98 semi-monthly.

The City of Cleburne participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. The City doubles the employee’s contribution to TMRS.

Employees receive the following paid annual leave:
15 vacation days
11 holidays
15 sick days

The City of Cleburne offers Life, Health, and Dental Insurance.

Other benefits provided include longevity pay, certification pay, and an education assistance program.

Qualifications

The Cleburne Police Department is a civil service department with the following qualification requirements:
- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age at the time of hire. No person shall be eligible for a beginning position who has reached his/her 45th birthday.
- Meet all legal requirements necessary to become a licensed Peace Officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
High School Diploma or G.E.D. plus 12 hours credit from an accredited college or university with at least a 2.0 GPA. (College credit requirement waived with 2 years continuous active military service and honorable discharge.)
- Applicants must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
- Applicants convicted of or admitted to conduct which constitutes a felony (and misdemeanors as applicable) under State, Federal, or military law will not be considered for employment. Applicants will not be considered for employment while charges are pending for any criminal offense.
- Must pass the written Civil Service Exam

Testing Information

The City of Cleburne conducts the Police Department Civil Service Examination annually or as needed.
